LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The 5th annual Healthy Lubbock Day kicked off this morning at Maxey Park. Nearly 500 participants walked, took a Zumba class, and had fun with the climbing wall, paddle boats, and a bike rodeo.

"There are ways to be healthy, ways to be active. Things that don't cost anything, that you can get out and do. You can get out and walk around the park. It's about a mile around this park. There's lots of things that families can do together to be healthy," said organizer Julie Toland.

The Healthy Lubbock initiative strives to empower individuals to make smart lifestyle decisions for themselves and their families.
