LISD board takes up staggered elections this week

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -NewsChannel 11 first told you that on May 24th, Lubbock ISD will change the way board members are elected. There is now an update on the way elections can be held.

Last month, a federal court gave Lubbock Independent School District permission to stagger the two at large board positions. In other words, the two at large board members will be elected at different times instead of at the same time.

LISD needed court permission because of a 1980's civil rights lawsuit.  Now armed with the court's permission the LISD board will vote on this issue Thursday morning.
