There is only one 1A high school band in the nation to receive an open invitation to play at the bowl game of their choice, and that school is right here on the South Plains.
The O'Donnell High School Marching Band has decided to go to the Alamo Bowl later this month. The honor was based on the student's good behavior at last year's Sugar Bowl. Band Director Corey Humphrey says the students have worked all semester to raise $40,000 for the trip.
"A lot of it comes from support from townspeople some from support from around the area, most of it is fundraisers door to door, the kids have to raise the money themselves," said Cory Humphrey, O'Donnell's Band Director.
If you are in San Antonio December 28th for the Alamo Bowl, don't miss O'Donnell in the half-time show. The featured football teams are Colorado and Wisconsin.
