Another North Overton Fire

Lubbock fire marshals are investigating an early Monday morning fire in the North Overton District. It happened at the Sunrise Apartments at 2309 9th St. Lubbock Police noticed smoke coming from the vacant Sunrise Apartments around 2:30 a.m. They also reported hearing an explosion-like sound from inside the building. The cause, however, is still under investigation. No one was injured.

A second fire this Monday afternoon wasn't quite so mysterious. Firefighters say plumbers were welding pipes in the walls when the wall caught fire. It happened at the Casa Orlando Apartments at 1810 3rd St. The fire spread through the wall, causing smoke damage to four other apartments. Casa Orlando management did make arrangements for the displaced residents.
