LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The latest Sales Tax Reports for the State of Texas are in. Lubbock dropped a little compared to this time last year. Despite the drop, the city is actually doing better for the year as a whole.

Compared to the June report for last year, Lubbock's sales tax payment is down 1.07%.  That drop means a loss of close to $40,000 of tax revenue for City Hall.

If you look at the year to date, Lubbock's sales tax payment for the city has gone up 2.52%. Compared to the 20 largest cities in Texas, Lubbock is doing 4th best year to date, and Lubbock businesses say they are thankful for that. "We know the economy has been bad in most places, but we're doing really well, and I think all around Lubbock has been going pretty well," said Elizabeth Adams who works at a local business called Wild Oats Boutique.

Lubbock County's numbers are similar to the City of Lubbock's numbers.

Beaumont is doing best compared to the largest cities in Texas with a year to date increase of almost 14%.
