LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The suspect accused of beating an elderly Lubbock man with his own cane has pleaded guilty to burglary with the intent to commit aggravataed assault.

Jaffice Harris, 20, broke into a home in the 3800 block of 48th Street, and struck Kenneth Forson repeatedly with his cane. Forson, who will be 75 years old on June 30, suffered a concussion, bruises, and a broken rib. Police arrested Harris across town in connection with an attempted purse snatching at 50th and Avenue Q.

The sentencing phase of this trial got underway Tuesday afternoon, and will continue on Wednesday.

Justice for Forson came one week after the burial of his wife, Doris. She passed away June 7, 2009.
