Texas Tech another step closer to becoming a Tier One university

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas Tech is another step closer to becoming a Tier One university.  Governor Perry signed into law a bill that will give Texas universities millions of dollars to help them become top U.S. research institutions.

In that decree, lawmakers named Texas Tech and six other state institutions as emerging research universities.

Texas A&M, the University of Texas at Austin, and Rice are already Tier One institutions.
