LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Leigh Daniel is used to competing all alone. In fact, that's how she gave Texas Tech a national championship in long distance running. Now, roughly eight years later, she wants to win again. But this time, it's going to take a lot of teamwork, and help from all the folks in Lubbock and beyond.

Every summer The Today Show hosts Today Throws a Wedding where you the viewers get to pick every detail. This year a Lubbock native and her fiancé have made it to the final three just two exciting steps away from being married by Matt, Meredith, Al, and Ann in front a national audience.

Leigh Daniel grew up in Lubbock and went to Texas Tech University where she excelled as a track star. "We met at an Olympic development training group five and a half years ago and that's where we met. Running brought us together," said Nick Cordes.

On Wednesday, Leigh returned home to Lubbock with her fiancé Cordes. But Wednesday morning you may have seen this bubbly couple on the Today Show. "I didn't know if he would go for it, but he was all for it. Why not? Let's just sign up for it - a nothing to lose kind of thing," said Daniel.

And after the first elimination, they are now in the top three, after saying goodbye to one of the couples. "You feel sad, I mean it's an emotional thing. You get really wrapped up in it and you get excited and you just feel bad for the couple. Unfortunately that has to be part of it, it's just one of those things, but of course we were pumped after that initial, you know, we were pretty excited," said Daniel.

Each Wednesday the couple performs in a challenge and the winner of the challenge gets to pick out an aspect of the wedding. "This week we did an obstacle and there were a lot of things - we had a lot of different things. We had to jump through a pool of balls, find wedding rings, attach them to your belt, and ring the bell at the end, we were second in that race too," said Cordes.

But the winning couple will be determined by votes from you the viewers. "It's all about votes and they said it came down to pretty close this week they said it was 88 votes between third and fourth place," said

If Leigh and Nick make it the end on July 15th the Today Show will throw them an all expenses paid wedding live from New York City. If you want to help Leigh and Nick win, you can vote online by (clicking here). You can also vote by texting 4 to 46833.  Standard text messaging rates apply.
