Codes Enforcement exercise in West Lubbock

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Neighbors in the Stubbs/Stewart neighborhood spent the day cleaning up their properties.

Thursday morning, the code administration section of the Lubbock Police Department conducted a field exercise between 34th and 50th Street, from Quaker to Slide. That means officers were out looking for residents with junk vehicles, weeds, trash, and substandard housing.

This isn't just a project for Thursday, but something this department will be doing all summer long. So their best advice to Lubbock residents is to be prepared. "Folks just need to make sure that their property is in good shape, make sure the neighborhood is in good shape, and they'll probably never hear from us," said Stuart Walker, City of Lubbock Codes Enforcement.

Officers also brought a roll off dumpster to the neighborhood, for things like tree branches, furniture, and appliances.
