LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Last week, WorkForce Solutions, Senator Robert Duncan, and others announced a new initiative to put 600 people to work in Lubbock over the next few years.
Now any program that aims to employ more folks is definitely worthwhile. But the "South Plains Re-employment and Recruitment Initiative" is one of a kind. Not only will it be the largest job training and placement effort in the area, but a bulk of the program will be geared toward bringing out of state workers to Lubbock.
Using state tax dollars, this program will aim to recruit folks in high un-employment communities outside of Texas. Consider this, I've mentioned before the need to recruit workers and even police from other parts of the country. Not only would it fill a void for skill-sets needed here, but it would put struggling families back in the black across the country.
This program is a huge step in the right direction for our economy. And after all, what better place to re-locate, than Lubbock, Texas?
