Be the first in line to buy your fireworks for Independence Day

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Fireworks stands across the South Plains will officially be open for business on Wednesday, June 24th.

Lubbock County Commissioners approved the sale of bottle rockets and missiles with fins earlier this month. Keep in mind that fireworks cannot be set off inside Lubbock's city limits.

In Texas, fireworks can be sold from June 24 through midnight on July 4.  Stands are typically open from 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and will remain open later on weekends.

In order to promote fireworks safety, TNT Fireworks is hosting a family fireworks safety event on Saturday, June 27 from 10 - 11 a.m.  The event will be held at the TNT office parking lot on 114 th Street and the Tahoka Highway (Highway 87 South) about ¼ mile west of the corner.
