Tina Benkiser speaks at Lubbock Area Republican Women's Meeting

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A state leader of the Republican party was in Lubbock Thursday evening to discuss her party's direction.

Tina Benkiser, chairman of the Republican party of Texas, spoke at the Lubbock Area Republican Women's meeting with local area representatives Carl Isett and Delwin Jones in attendance.

Benkiser says although the country is in a recession, Texas is holding strong. "We literally have the best economic climate in the entire country. We're also one of only a handful of states that's not in the ground right now, it's been because Republican leadership," she says.

Benkiser also discussed the recent legislative session, and what her party should do to prepare for the 2010 elections.
