Lubbock Juneteenth Celebrations

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Juneteenth commemorates the abolition of slavery in the Texas back in 1865. To celebrate, the Lubbock Juneteenth Committee planned several events.

There is a play called "A Change is Coming" at the Civic Center Theatre at 8 p.m. on June 19th and 20th. There will be the "Anniversary Freedom Parade" at the Civic Center June 20th at 10 a.m. and Joyland Amusement Park will open for Juneteenth park festivities on the 20th from Noon until 6:30 p.m.
