Texas jobless rate up but Lubbock is lowest in the state

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The state's unemployment rate jumped to 7.1 percent in May, however, Lubbock's numbers are the lowest in the state with 4.6 percent.

The Texas Workforce Commission says the number is up from a revised 6.6 percent metro jobless rate in April.

Following are the preliminary May jobless rates for local areas in Texas, with revised April numbers in parentheses. The local figures are not seasonally adjusted.
