LUBBOCK, Texas (June 22, 2009) - The Lubbock Christian University Athletic Department and head volleyball coach Jennifer Lawrence is announcing that Mandy Moffitt has joined the volleyball staff as assistant coach. She leaves Monterey High School to accept the position and takes over for Tiffany Williams, who has been named the head volleyball coach at Harvest Christian Academy (Watauga, Texas).
This will mark Moffitt's second tenure with the LCU coaching staff. The former LCU volleyball standout (2001-2004) served as a student assistant coach under Lawrence in 2005. She served the past three seasons as head volleyball coach at Monterey High School.
Moffatt competed at Coronado High School prior to enrolling at LCU, where she became the first and only four-time NAIA All-American in program history and was part of three NAIA National Championship tournament squads. She holds the program's career record for aces (195) and assists (6,465). Her 6,465 assists ranks sixth in NAIA history for career assists. She currently ranks fifth on LCU's career digs list (1,704). In 2001, she was named Freshmen of the Year, Setter of the Year and also earned First Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors. She followed with Setter of the Year, Most Valuable Player and First Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore, junior and senior.
By joining the staff, Moffatt will serve as Lawrence's top assistant. She will also serve as the head coach of the LCU's junior varsity volleyball program. This season will mark the first season the Lady Chaparrals have had a junior varsity volleyball program.
