LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police need your help to find the driver who crashed into a house and fled the scene around 3 a.m. Sunday. The tan SUV police are looking for stopped just short of the crib where an 8-month-old was sleeping.

A tarp now covers the hole the SUV put in the back of this house in the 2800 block of 88th Street. Beena and Jeffereys Thomas say the crash sounded like a bomb going off. The impact sent glass flying, scattered toys and crushed furniture. The SUV jumped the curb, drove straight through the fence and into the room where an 8-month-old Jackson Thomas was sleeping.

With all the damage, estimated at $55,000, the Thomas' say it's nothing short of a miracle that their son survived without a single scratch. "The damage is all material, but for that person he needs to know what could have happened. There was a little baby in there that could have died," says Beena Thomas.

After the crash, Beena ran outside and saw a vehicle literally pulling out of their house. The driver fled the scene and now police are searching for a tan Chevy Suburban or SUV they say it most likely sustained significant damage after driving through the brick wall.

If you have seen this vehicle or have any information, you are asked to please call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
