CLOVIS, NM (KCBD) - Police in Clovis have arrested a woman and man in connection with a stabbing death.
An affidavit shows the body of 37-year-old Clifford Webber was in 45-year-old Robbin Banister's home for about three days before she asked a friend to help move it to an abandoned home next door. The friend reported the death to police.
The woman told police that one of her boyfriend's co-workers stabbed him in the chest with a steak knife at her home during an argument over beer. She says the other man then fled. The document says the man Banister identified as the killer had an alibi.
On Monday, Clovis police arrested 28-year-old Jerry Hemmerling for tampering with evidence in the homicide investigation of Clifford Webber. Police say Hemmerling is the friend that helped Bannister move Webber's body. He then reported the crime, and led police to Webber's body.
Clovis authorities don't expect any other arrests to be made in this case.
