LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This is a little unsettling. After analyzing nearly 55 hundred patient records, researchers at Cornell Medical Center say they found 135 patients who were never informed of a bad test result.
That translates to one out of every fourteen abnormal test results are reportedly missed, and not reported to the patient. The report goes on to explain that it is not the intent of medical professionals to ignore some bad news. Only that they are overwhelmed with work and at the end of the day and some things don't get done and the study says that's why it's a must that patients follow up when time passes and they have not heard about test results.
