LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - With summer officially here and vacation season at its peak, there is good news around the state for what it will cost you to travel by land.
The national average price you pay at the pump has fallen to $2.69 a gallon, and it is the first drop in over fifty days, according to AAA.
Here in Lubbock, the cheapest gas price that NewsChannel 11 found is $2.47 a gallon at the Lowe's at 82nd and Frankford and also at the Town & Country at 19th and Frankford. Sam's Club is reporting a price of $2.46, but only available to Club members.
The gas price is impacted by oil prices, which fell Monday to $66.93 a barrel.
Something else to look forward to; Tom Kloza with the Oil Price Information Service says that gas prices will go even lower, later this summer.
