Marissa was a member of FFA all four years of high school. She served as a chapter officer for three years and competed in leadership contests, on judging teams, and showed pigs. She received first place in state for Sr. Creed Speaking her junior year and was a member of the Texas State Champion Cotton Judging Team her sophomore year. Marissa was actively involved in Business Professionals of America for four years where she served as a state officer her junior and senior year. She was a national finalist in Human Resource Management her junior year and a member of the Texas State Champion Parliamentary Procedure Team her senior year. She served as varsity volleyball manager all four years of high school and was awarded Academic All-State honors her senior year. During the first three years of high school she played varsity tennis and received Academic All-District each year. She was inducted into the National Honor Society her junior year and served as vice-president her senior year. Marissa participated in SUMMIT her junior and senior year and Destination Imagination her freshman year. She was involved in Student Council all four years, serving as class president her sophomore year. She was a cast member in the LHS One Act Play production of Alice in Wonderland. Marissa received classroom achievement awards in Spanish 3, Pre-AP Chemistry, Accounting, and Who's Who in Pre-Calculus and Business her junior year. She was on the "A" Honor roll all four years of high school.
Marissa has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship from Abilene Christian University, Sam Walton Community Scholarship, the Lyntegar Electric Cooperative Scholarship, the National FFA Ford Trucks/Built Ford Tough Scholarship, the First Baptist Church Scholarship and the Hardy and Bess Morgan Citizenship Award and Scholarship.
