LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -   Here in Lubbock, fans focused on the good times. They turned to the medium Jackson loved most, music, to celebrate his life. His lyrics lingered over airways Friday and his fans eulogized Jackson from song requests to dance move memories.

"Right now it's ‘The Way You Make Me Feel.' How does Michael Jackson make you feel?" asked Mix 100.3 mid-day Jock Jerri Cruz. She wanted to know how her listeners felt about the shocking news of Jackson's death.

Flooded with calls, Cruz took requests for all of Jackson's number one hits and more. She asked listeners what they remembered best about the pop king. Callers were heartbroken about the music community's loss.

Cruz hoped Friday's opportunity to celebrate Jackson's life helped fans who felt as though something was missing. "You see the picture. Michael Jackson 1985-2009 and then it hits you and it's heartbreaking," Cruz tells her listeners.

Callers reminisce about listening to the legend growing up, and added that he changed the landscape of music. "Heaven is having one heck of a party. They have the king of soul, king of rock and now the king of pop," said one caller.

The station's tribute to Jackson will continue through the weekend.
