LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Pediatricians can only do so much and convincing a mom that her child needs to lose weight is apparently not easy to do.
A new study done at two universities in Germany show that the ability of a mom to identify a weight problem in her child depends on her own weight. Ironically, the overweight moms in the study could identify other children who were obese, but not their own.
The study suggests pediatricians use dietitians and counselors to help families understand the emotional factors of being overweight to hopefully motivate them to make changes.
