21-year-old Sasha Hedgecock is in a Lubbock hospital on Wednesday night after she was found unconscious on the side of a New Mexico road. The Eddy County Sheriff's Department found Hedgecock at around 7:45 Wednesday morning. Her dangerously low body temperature indicated she had been lying there all night.
Carlsbad Medical Center air lifted Hedgecock to Covenant where she is undergoing treatment. A press release from the Eddy County Sheriff's Department describes her injuries as massive head trauma. But according to emergency workers involved in the case, the victim had a bullet wound to the temple. The Eddy County sheriff's office would not confirm that.
