Northwest Lubbock apartment complex fire deemed arson

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Tenants of an apartment complex in Northwest Lubbock were evacuated Tuesday morning after a fire that has been deemed arson.

The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Boardwalk Apartments at 19th and Dover Avenue, across the street from Lubbock Christian University.

The Lubbock Fire Marshall's office has deemed this fire to be arson. The damage is expected to be around $10,000.

There were no reported injuries, but five people were displaced.

The arson is still under investigation, but officials are looking for ‘Rick‘ Schultz as a person of interesting involving this fire.

Richard ‘Rick' John Schultz is described as a 44-year-old white male, 5'7", 145 lbs. with tattoos on his arms and legs, and is missing teeth. He was last seen wearing a black muscle shirt with khaki shorts. He is assumed to be driving a black Ford Escape with his ex-wife, a Hispanic female in her 40's.
