Special session underway in Austin

Texas lawmakers returned to the capitol Wednesday to address some unfinished business.

The special legislative session got under way Wednesday morning and members of the House quickly got to work. The House committee on state affairs unanimously approved the bill to keep state agencies operating about an hour after the special session started Wednesday morning.

The bill, by Lubbock representative Carl Isett, will keep the agencies, including the Texas Department of Transportation, operating until the next regularly scheduled session in 2011.

Governor Perry says he expects the session to wrap before the holiday weekend.
