LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This taste test starts at McPherson Cellars at 1615 Texas Avenue. While it's their appetizer that got them to the top, it's their wine they are known for.

"That's wonderful! Wine is food so it's good to be a top performer," says Kim McPherson.

Winemaker and owner Kim McPherson knows a little about the wine business - his father is known as the 'Pioneer of Modern Texas' wines. Kim uses grapes grown on the High Plains to create wines with an old world feel. "Southern France, Italian, Spanish varieties that love the heat."

Although recently opened, this facility is familiar with bottling. "The is the old Coca-Cola building plant in downtown Lubbock and we've converted it to what they call an urban winery. It's a beautiful facility just now getting started on our event center. But our tasting room our winery is open. We do have wines from sweet to dry for the novice to the professional we have them here," says McPherson.
