LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police are always on the hunt for criminals. But right now they're also on a different kind of search.
"I think the biggest thing, as far as the academy goes, is that it gets you prepared for some of the stress you face on the street," says officer Kody nesbitt who is one of several officers portrayed in an Internet recruiting video.
LPD has the help wanted sign out between now and July 31st.
The police are authorized to have 422 officers. Some are retiring soon and there are some new ones already in the academy. Based on information given to NewsChannel 11 by Captain Greg Stevens, as of Thursday there's room to hire 35 officers.
Starting pay is $41,221.44 and recruits are paid during their time in the police academy. There are some age and basic education requirements.
