Four Still At Large After Sunday Shooting in Lubbock

Lubbock Police are searching for four suspects following a shooting late Sunday afternoon. According to police the situation revolved around an ex-girlfriend, it started early Sunday afternoon with a fight then hours later shots were fired. Now two people are hospitalized and four suspects are at large.

Tino Villarreal says, "We were parked at the park and these guys just jumped out of the car and they started bashing in my windows, and they hit my cousin and then we took off and the started following us and we just heard gunshots and my cousin said they hit him so we stopped here."

It was just before 5 p.m. on Sunday and they stopped in the 2800 block of 37th street, 18 year-old Tino Villarreal was driving his car when he and his cousins were shot at, "We'd just barely gotten back from McDonalds and we were just eating and they popped out of no where and started bashing in the windows."

Tino doesn't know the four Hispanic males that attacked him and his cousins Adam Hernandez and Isreal Luna at the park, but he does know one of them was his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend.

Destiny Ramirez is Tino's girlfriend and says her ex-boy friend was abusive and the relationship ended a few months ago, "He thinks were supposed to spend the rest of our lives together, he's one of those psycho things."

Her sister, Vicki Flores says if the police would have responded to their first call, no one would've been shot, "I'm really upset because this didn't have to happen if the cops would've taken action the first time I called them and said he had a gun, no body would've gotten shot at all. But it takes someone getting shot and honestly I think it's a racial issue."

Police say when the victims were attacked at the park they got in their car and drove off, that's when the suspects followed them and fired seven shots at their car. Only one person in the car was shot, but two were transported to University Medical Center. Adam Hernandez suffered a gun shot wound to the lower back, he is in serious condition. Isreal Luna suffered a blunt force to the head and he is listed in satisfactory condition.

According to the victims police are looking for three brothers: 20 year-old Rudy Botello, 18 year-old Ronnie Botello, and 21 year-old Ruben Botello. The fourth suspect has not been identified. Police believe the suspects may be in a silver Impala or a blue Ford Focus. If you have any information on the whereabouts of these four, police urge you to call Crime Line at 741-1000.
