Signs of the New Year

Across town Tuesday night, the new year will come in with a pop, a champagne pop that is. Jimmy Dunlap, owner of Docs Liquor says Tuesday is the busiest day of the year, and he says the most popular drink is champagne. Doc's sells several different kinds of champagne and will be open until midnight for any last minute New Year's celebrations.

Another sign of the new year are health and fitness clubs offering special membership deals. Micheal Nelson owner of the Bodyworks Health Clubs, says that January and February are the busiest months of the year for gyms across Lubbock. Across the city, area gyms including: Bodyworks, Flex Fitness, Gym X, and The Natulius are all offering special $19 packages for new members wanting to stick to their New Year's resolutions.

Losing weight and exercising more top the list of resolutions each year, but this year more and more Americans are not making any resolutions and Lubbock area residents seem to be in this group. NewsChannel 11 spoke with dozens of people, and surprisingly only two said they were making resolutions.
