LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Thursday at the Swine-flu summit in Washington D.C., officials announced that they are now preparing for a surge of swine flu infections this fall.
So far, a million Americans have been infected and now health officials are getting ready for a massive vaccination program in time for kids returning to school. Clinical trials for the H1H1 flu vaccine will begin in late August, with another batch of vaccines scheduled for mid-October. Children are the biggest concern and they will get the first vaccine.
Friday, the Obama Administration will announce 350-million dollars in grants to states and hospitals preparing for a possible outbreak in the fall. The government is trying to get the word out to the younger generation by using Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. They even launched a "YouTube Make-Your-Own Swine Flu Video" contest. The winning video will be shown nationwide.
