Yemen Shooting Victim Recounts Event to Parents in Levelland
A Levelland man gave his parents the first hand account of the attack that left three of his colleagues dead and three bullets lodged in his stomach. D.C. and Mary Caswell spoke with their son Don on Tuesday.
The attack happened at a Southern Baptist-run hospital in Yemen. Don says he was working in the pharmacy when he heard the first shots. When he went to investigate, the pharmacist came face to face with the attacker. The man opened fire hitting Caswell twice, then another time after following him into the pharmacy. Caswell says the man tried to fire again, but he was taken down by police before he could fire another shot.
William Koehn of Arlington, Kathleen Gariety of Wisconsin, and Dr. Martha Myers of Montgomery, Alabama all died in the attack. The gunman is in custody and officials say he may have ties to Al-Qaida.
