LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech announced Wednesday that all Red Raider Club donor-based parking for the 2009 Red Raider Football season has been allocated to Red Raider Club members requesting football parking benefits by the May 31st deadline.
This marks the third-straight sellout year for Red Raider Club donor-based football parking. All membership contributions, including those made for the benefit of priority football parking, sustain the Red Raider Scholarship Fund. This fund is designed to support scholarships for more than 280 student-athletes in every sport under the Texas Tech Athletics umbrella.
"We would like to thank our donors, who have contributed so generously and graciously to make this possible," said Kelly Riney, Red Raider Club assistant director. "Not only have our donors enabled us to sell out for the third-straight year, their contributions are helping fund scholarships for our student-athletes."
Due to progress in construction of the stadium's east side, parking numbers were decreased significantly in the east parking area, creating an overflow situation in all other donor based parking areas. Additional spaces were added in other parking areas to help compensate the losses.
"We realize that this year presents a unique problem for our donors who have always supported the Red Raider Club and Texas Tech Athletics," Texas Tech Assistant AD/Development Amy McBride said. "In the past, their contributions have allowed them to receive the benefit of "up close" parking. We hope that our donors realize this minor inconvenience is temporary and that our entire stadium and game day experience will be improved by the construction that has displaced them - and that next year's parking outlook should be better."
