LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Whatever happened to all that recalled cookie dough? It turns out two strains of E. coli bacteria have been found in samples of those Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough products that were sent back but, oddly enough, they don't match the strain that sickened at least 72 people nationwide.
Nestle voluntarily recalled thousands of refrigerated cookie dough packages last month after they were linked to cases of E. coli. Of those people who became ill, 34 had to be hospitalized but no one has died. Now, investigators say they still have a mystery on their hands, since the two strains they found don't match whatever it was that made people sick.
