LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - One of the major problems with health care in the United States is that more than half the nation's small businesses can't afford to offer their employees health insurance. That was the claim Friday from small business owners when it was their turn to state their case on health reform before the Obama Administration.
"Plain and simple, we don't have insurance and I pray and thank God that my kids are relatively healthy, but, [we have] no insurance, [we] can't afford it", said small business employee Sheree Butler.
According to the National Federation of Independent Business, small businesses pay 18% more than the large firms for health insurance. Vice President Biden listened to those concerns and promised that the Obama Administration will not abandon small businesses. The nation's small businesses do provide coverage to nearly 68 million Americans every year.
