LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Teens in Lubbock had the chance to talk about pressures they face on Saturday. Healthcare professionals led sessions for teens to talk about abstinence, sex education, an responsible decision making at an event called "Teen Straight Talk".
"Lubbock, unfortunately, has some of the highest S.T.D. and teen pregnancy rates in the state. We also have problems with child abuse that can be directly related back to teen pregnancy, and it's a problem that we need to deal with. We no longer can just wait for something to improve. We need to get these kids educated so we can have a better community," said Texas Tech Medical School professor, Sam Prien.
The next "Teen Straight Talk" program will take place on November 7th.
