LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Curiosity consumes Levelland after federal law enforcement officers raided Bobby Froman's home early Friday morning. Federal agents charged 28 defendants for trafficking methamphetamines including two Hockley County Sheriff's Deputies-Narcotics Officer, Jesse Quintanilla and Chief Deputy Gordon Bohannon.

"When I heard I was just like in this small town and all this investigation that's been going on for all these years. We just didn't expect nothing like that," said Maria Mendez. Federal agents started investigating a Levelland drug operation months ago. One of the men behind it all is Bobby Froman. This is not unusual for Froman.  Police charged him with multiple drug possessions in the past.

The Hockley County Sheriff, who arrested Froman in the past, says he did know two of his deputies had a relationship with Froman, but he believed it was strickly proffesional. The shock still remains throughout Levelland, along with many rumors.

"Nobody knows. It's just all hear say. I mean, yes, we know they are in jail and people are having rumors everywhere.  The way I see it, I've lived here all my life and I'm behind my community, I'm behind Bohannon and Jesse you know and if they did do what they did, then you know what, they will pay for what they have to do," said Jovita Castillo.

Bohannan appeared in handcuffs before a judge at the Federal Building in Lubbock on Friday afternoon. Now, he is being held in the Lubbock County Jail without bond. His hearing is set for July 20th. The rest of the defendants will appear in court on Monday, July 13th. If convicted on the conspiracy charge each defendant faces 10 years to life in prison, and a fine up to $4,000,000.
