The story of Idalou is a story of the railroad, and cotton, but of course it goes deeper than that. This community grew up around a railroad switch and small depot built when railroad crews connected Lubbock and Crosbyton in 1911.
Two traumatic events rocked Idalou this year. Tanner Cook, #24, was seriously injured following a collision on the football field, and Reas Axtell, who married into an Idalou family, lost both legs in an explosion in Iraq.
Grammy nominations, worldwide tours, and large fan bases, they're dreams some musicians can only hope to achieve. NewsChannel 11's Katie Bauer introduces us to one Idalou singer who has accomplished those feats and another that is well on his way.
You might recall back in mid February, a fire destroyed one of the buildings of the West Texas Lee Company. That particular portion of the facility is not yet rebuilt, but it will be soon and it will stay in Idalou.
