Fund set up to help elderly couple following house fire - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - An elderly Lubbock couple is picking up the pieces after an electrical fire in their home.

Over the weekend, Carolina and Ernesto Palacio had a fire in the attic. The fire department says Mr. Palacio, despite his age of 83, got up on the roof with a garden hose until firefighters arrived.

Monday, some of the clean-up and repair work got underway. The couple's daughter describes that moment when the fire started. "The neighbor across the street was the one who noticed it, and told my dad. They rushed right over and tried to help my dad.  But as soon as they tried to get it out, more fire would start," said Betty Palacio.

A fund has been set up for the couple at any branch of City Bank.
