Karin McCay follows Today Show couple during wedding preparations

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Monday was a big day for Leigh Daniels and Nick Cordes, who are getting married Wednesday morning on the TODAY show.

The bridesmaids went one way and the groomsmen went the other to get fitted.

NewsChannel 11's Karin McCay takes a look behind the scenes in New York from the fashion district.

"They have a sample size," says Bobbie Thomas, Today Show Style Contributor. "Embrace your curves because you're beautiful and it's just about the dress flattering you," she tells one of the bridesmaids.

You may know the three Lubbock ladies who will be attending the Today Show Wedding. Just like the bride, Leigh Daniel, they've all grown up in Lubbock.

"Alright Jenny, come on in," says Thomas to Jenny Miller-Burrough during a dress fitting. Jenny and Leigh have been best friends since pre-school. All grown up, she's married too. Jenny is the Matron of Honor, and the first to get some advice on her new dress.

The girls didn't shop for these dresses. America voted for just about everything. It turns out even the shoes are a perfect fit.

The two other bridesmaids are the brides little sisters Tibet and the youngest, Lindsey.

So what about the groomsman? We found them at G.Q. along with the groom, Rick Cordes from Ohio (but a big fan of Lubbock now).

"It really put us over the top. It's the only reason we're here," says Cordes. "It's not because of Leigh and I. It's because of the support system we have, from Lubbock for sure."

What you don't know by watching the Today Show is all four choices for the men's clothes were provided by G.Q.

"We were four for four, guaranteed to win," says Adam Rapaport, G.Q. Style Editor.

And it's a win-win for the four groomsmen who get to keep their designer duds. Standing by Nick will be little brother Steve as best man, and Matt and Jay.

We can't show the bride in her gown before the wedding but after a lot of wrong turns into a few scary places, we found where it is being altered. Christos provided "gown number four".

It's a high dollar bridal salon where all the gowns are hand made. It takes about six months to complete and another four months for any alterations. The Today Show needs it in a week.

Normally the dress would cost $4,000, after all the bead work on the capped sleeves is imported from India.

And speaking of the bride, Leigh finally hooked up with her buddies for lunch, and followed them back for a second fitting of the bridesmaids. And that's when we gave her your gift, an album telling her "Today Show story" with hundreds of emails and well wishes from back home in Lubbock.

"Thank you guys so much, says Leigh. "It makes me feel so special that you guys took the time to do this for Nick and I. And it's something I'm gonna cherish for the rest of my life."

The rehearsal is scheduled for Tuesday night, and NewsChannel 11's Karin McCay is still in New York and will bring us live updates on the news at 6 and 10.
