LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Statistics show Texas continues to grow drier. The state now has the most land under the worst stage of drought in nearly a decade.
The U.S. drought monitor map show about 18-percent of the state to be in an exceptional drought. That's up from 14-percent just last week. One week ago Lubbock and all contiguous counties were free of drought. But the newest Drought Monitor Thursday morning shows portions of Lubbock, Crosby, Garza, Lynn, Dawson and Borden Counties are "abnormally dry".
Central and South Texas are hardest hit, and are the only regions in the U.S. in extreme and exceptional drought.
