Before Mayor Marc McDougal went to city council on Wednesday, he was speaking to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce about where Lubbock has been and where it's going in the new year. One of the big issues the mayor talked about was the importance of developing north and east Lubbock. He says he wants to see more affordable housing in the area, and he wants residents there to have the same opportunities as everyone else.
Mayor McDougal also talked about his strong opposition to a bill going to the Texas Legislature this year. It would require all police officers in Texas to have a college degree.
