LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The City of Lubbock will not hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, to consider locating the proposed new Animal Shelter at the Mackenzie Park site. The City advertised a public hearing for this purpose and also sent out letters to affected parties in order to comply with state laws and obtain public comment.
The City Council has decided to locate the new shelter on non-park property after hearing the concerns of citizens in a number of areas of Lubbock. A new Animal Shelter facility remains a goal for the City; therefore a new site is still being pursued so that the City can move forward with the proposed project in an expeditious manner.
The City will hold a regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
