Burial fund set up for Brownfield murder victim

BROWNFIELD, TX (KCBD) - A fund has been set up to help a murder victim's family with funeral expenses. Pete Martinez, 25, died late Sunday night in Brownfield after being shot.

Brownfield police were alerted to an armed robbery on Stewart Street around 11:45 p.m. Sunday night. Authorities say Martinez got into a verbal altercation with a group of around seven people. Two shots were fired. One struck Martinez in the neck. First responders rushed him to the Brownfield Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

If you would like to help the family with funeral expenses donations can be made at the Lone Star State Bank in Brownfield.
