Lubbock soldier honored by Governor Perry

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Governor Rick Perry returned from a trip to Iraq and Afghanistan Wednesday night, where a Lubbock soldier received an award.  Perry arrived back in Texas after traveling with governors from Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, and Nevada.

While in Iraq, Perry gave out Texas Flags that had flown over the state capitol. He presented the Combat Infantry Badge to Specialist Bradley Merchant of Lubbock. About 4,500 Texas National Guard Members are deployed in the region.
