Motorcyclist critically injured in Central Lubbock collision

By Karin Slyker | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A motorcyclist is hospitalized in critical condition at University Medical Center, after a collision near 34th and Indiana just after 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Lubbock Police say Ricky Brown, 29, was northbound on Indiana at the time of the accident. His Harley left a skid mark approximately 120 feet in length, and stops just short of the median. Investigators say that is where he collided with a blue Jeep Liberty. The driver, Hannah Freeman, 20, was crossing Indiana west bound at 32nd Street. She and a passenger suffered minor injuries.

As of late Friday afternoon, Lubbock's accident investigation team remained on the scene. They are still trying to determine whether or not speed or alcohol was a factor in this crash.

They are also collecting statements from witnesses who saw the accident happen. So far no charges have been filed. However, Lubbock Police are continuing to check in on Brown's condition. They say he was not wearing a helmet.
