Help prevent auto theft, register your vehicle - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) You have the chance to help the law fight auto theft by registering your vehicle. All you need is your insurance card, driver's license and about five minutes.

Organizers say you won't even have to get out of your car. "What we do is put a decal on the back of your car which gives officers probable cause to stop your vehicle anytime it is driven between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. or if it is entering Mexico," says Crime Prevention Coordinator Kat Anderson.

The decal is good for four years across the state of Texas. Registration starts Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m. The set up booth is outside the 66th and slide entrance of the South Plains Mall.
