LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - History buffs got their fill of World War II history Saturday at the Silent Wings Museum with a free oral history training. The workshop is one in a series of 30 taking place across the state to highlight real places and tell the stories of Texas' involvement in the war effort.
"We talk about how the historical places of WWII in Texas tell the stories of the urbanization and the modernization of Texas brought on by WWII, and then we also show how oral history can be a great compliment to the research done on these sites by offering that first person perspective," said military historian, Willie McQuarter.
Organizers say they chose the Silent Wings Museum because it does such a great job of preserving the local WWII history.
