WWII hero with Lubbock ties passes away at 88

LUBBOCK TX (KCBD) - A World War II hero with ties to Lubbock passed away. Herbert Thomas Mulder, 88 died in Beaumont, TX on Thursday.

He was decorated with the Flying Cross, Purple Heart and many other honors. Mulder trained in Lubbock along with other glider pilots and played a big role in the D-Day invasion of 1944.

The family asked that donations be made to the Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, which is already the beneficiary of Mulder's most prized artifacts from WWII.
