A Dallas woman who was lost in Palo Duro Canyon used her cell phone to help rescuers find her.
Twenty year-old Lindsey Barbee says she lost her bearings Thursday afternoon while hiking alone on a trail in Palo Duro Canyon. Randall County Sheriff's Department deputies began looking for her after she called 9-1-1 Thursday night. Park employees and members of the Canyon Volunteer Fire Department joined the effort.
During the search, Barbee kept talking on her phone and told rescuers she could see their lights, but it was three hours before they were able to pinpoint her location. She also yelled for help.
Palo Duro Canyon is about 100 miles north of Lubbock.
