LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Tuesday we are packing up and hitting Highway 84 towards Slaton as our Community Coverage tour continues. While were in Idalou we heard music from members of the country band, Texas 114. NewsChannel 11 took on the Idalou Wildcats in 7 on 7 football, while others shook hands with Karin and Abner.
All week long we are crossing the South Plains to bring you stories of people and places.
Tuesday night Karin, Abner, Pete and John will be in Slaton live to bring you NewsChannel 11 at 6:00 and 10:00. Our news crews will arrive at the Slaton town square and transform it into a mini TV studio. We will rope off a section, where you the viewers can come out and watch the shows live. Tonight we'll be featuring some of the great people and places that make up the city of Slaton.
We'll break down the importance of a mural and what it means to the community. And we'll tell you why Slaton's salon is bringing in students from all over the South Plains. From emergency rooms to meditation rooms, we'll tell you how a local hospital has been rehabilitated. And people from across the country are making their way to a Slaton's sweet spot, we'll show you why a local bakery is bringing in big business. There's no fast food restaurant, but Slaton's City Hall has a drive thru. We'll tell you what its used for.
In between newscast we will have food and entertainment at each stop on the tour. United is providing free food. And to drink, there will be Pepsi products and bottled water from ABC Bank. For dessert, Blue Bell is giving away ice cream.
